Domestic violence remains a critical issue impacting individuals and families across Houston, often leaving survivors with limited access to immediate support, safety resources, and long-term stability. Many survivors face barriers such as financial insecurity, lack of transportation, housing instability, and limited access to trauma-informed services. Houston Cares Foundation addresses these gaps by providing survivor-centered support, advocacy, and community education designed to create pathways to safety and independence
More than 1 in 8 adults in Harris County experience frequent mental distress and 1 in 3 domestic violence survivors are living with anxiety, depression, or PTSD. Mental health and domestic violence are deeply connected.
